What happens if, for example, a tree gets hung up on the AHS? Does ice impact its operation?

Based on our initial research and actual visits to other adjustable hydraulic structures around the country we have learned the structures can be manipulated in a way that manages ice and woody debris. The structure can be outfitted with abutment heaters to minimize ice buildup and changing the configuration of the adjustable gates can break ice and float large logs. Specific operating protocols for woody debris, ice, and other trash will need to be developed by the AHS Governance structure to ensure the AHS priority objectives are met.
